Community Outreach

Union Pacific Railroad has a steadfast concern for the areas in which it operates, including the Fifth Ward community. We value input from residents in these neighborhoods as well as community leaders, as we advance our cleanup efforts under the oversight of TCEQ.

To ensure community awareness and maintain ongoing dialogue, Union Pacific conducts public meetings to share site monitoring and testing results, as well as educate area residents and community leaders about our cleanup efforts.

Union Pacific has distributed educational fact sheets and informational flyers to community residents and area civic organizations. We also have conducted and/or participated in numerous community awareness meetings, published notices in local newspapers and sent regular update letters to effected area residents and community leaders. These notices and letters provide formal notifications of newly available site testing and monitoring data, site activity updates and other relevant information.

We sincerely appreciate the input, comments and support being provided to our team as we work toward completing the cleanup and environmental mitigation activities. Union Pacific continues to consider the public’s concerns through these open and transparent processes.
